it's the 15th...and that means a blog train...

Hello scrappers,
It's that time of the month again, we're off on another DSC blog train.

It's winter here in OZ, and I'm really feeling the cold this year, so what better way to warm up than to think of heading to the beach. This month's collab at DSC is called Beachy-Keen, with beautiful subtle colours, it's the perfect kit for your summery, beachy pics. The kit has 112 elements and 67 papers, and is a steal for just under $5. There's enough in there to keep you scrapping for months.

For the blog train this month, we've all created 6x4" Brag Book pages. If you collect them all, you will have a wonderful Brag Book full of memories. I've created 3 pages for you this month. Hope you like them.

And lastly, make sure you head over to the DSC forum for lots more freebies and fun challenges.
Enjoy!

hello! It's blog train time again...

It's been so long since I've posted, my poor bloggie is feeling rather neglected. Life has been busy in one way or another. We've been on holiday to the UK to spend a belated Christmas with Aidan's family. Aidan has been in (and finished) another play. Emma has been busy with school and activities. And I've been, well I've been doing all the mummy and wifey things that need doing to support them....as well as scrapping when I've had the time.

Anyway. It's time for another Digital Scrap Cafe Blog Train. I've missed them....hope you have too.

This month the DSC designers have a very girly kit in the store called Girlish. It's huge, with 110 elements, 70 papers, and 4 templates....all 469MB of digital goodness for less than $5. Now that's what I call a bargain! It's perfect to scrap an album about that little princess in your life.
For the blog train, we all created QuickPages to share with you. Here's my contribution:

Visit all the participating blogs to collect all the goodies:
You should have arrived here from Kristen's Blog at thebealefive.blogspot.com and your next stop is Pom's blog at bkkpom.blogspot.com.

Remember that we are located all around the world, so if you get to a stop and your goodies aren't ready, make sure you come back and check later.

it's november and a new challenge at DSC ...

Hi everyone! Happy November! Can you believe we are just a month away from Christmas! I'm getting kind of nervous, as we are heading to England for Christmas this year....and I'm not at all organised. I haven't done an ounce of shopping, and don't even really know what I'm going to buy! I guess I better get myself into gear!

I have a new 'What's in the coffee cup?' challenge just posted at Digital Scrap Cafe. This month you need to scrap a layout that includes these items:

And here's my sample:

Be sure to check out the DSC forum for all the details. And if you complete the challenges at DSC each month, you earn digi-bytes that can be used to buy items from the store. I hope to see your layouts.

quote challenge and a freebie ...

I'm hosting the quote challenge over at Digital Scrap Cafe this fortnight, and I've made a freebie word art for you.

I was rummaging through some old photos, and came across some photos of Emma playing in the garden with my dad. It was such innocent fun, that it reminded me that it is the simple things that make the most long-lasting memories.

And so my challenge is to scrap using the quote - Memories are made of this.

Here's the word art I've made. One is just the simple words, and the other includes a grungy frame. And I've also included the layout I made with the wordart.
You can download the wordart here!

If you don't like what I've created...use your own! But make sure that you scrap a layout of an important memory you don't want to forget. And make sure you leave a comment and link me up to your layout, so that I can go and leave you some love!

a new ct gig, a ct call and a freebie ...

I'm excited to be joining a new template designer as part of her CT team. Lita, who I have come to know through Amy's team, has just jumped the fence into designing and has asked me to join her team. I'm so excited, as I love working with templates. And let me tell you...her templates are fab. She's just opened her store at Digiridoo Scraps, and has another on the way.

She's having a CT call, so if anyone is interested, you should contact her. Here's some details.

On the scrapping front, I have been working on a couple of layouts for kits that will be released this week...so I can't share just yet. But I do have a Quick Page freebie for you. I've worked with a gorgeous kit called Tainted Love, from Designs by Rozie. Rozie is hosting the Cafe Colour Challenge, over at Digital Scrap Cafe, and has offered us this gorgeous kit to scrap with.

You can download the quick page here

I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to leave a comment if you do.

Here's my contribution. I've used papers and elements from Michele Stone Designz.

quote challenge and a freebie ...

I'm hosting the quote challenge over at Digital Scrap Cafe. I chose a quote about laughter...as I usually like to look at the funnier things in life. So the quote you need to use on your layout is

- a day without laughter is a day wasted -

Here's my layout.

Now, I've never made word art before, but I liked what I created, so I have turned it into a freebie to share with you. I have made 2 copies - one with, and one without sparkles. And the word art is plain black, ready for you to aqlter to suit your layout. Hope you like it.

Click here to download the laughter wordart freebie.

I'd love to see what you create, so leave me a link in the comments so that I can go and check it out.

catch-up and happy birthday to me ...

It's been a busy few weeks at the Basnett house, and I've been a bit slack posting.

Em has been sick on and off for 2 weeks. First with headaches, then with Asthma, and now she's ended up with a stinking cold. I've got her topped up on kids echinacea and vitamin C, and hope that helps her get better. She's recently completed her first NAPLAN testing. We don't get the results until September, but I'm interested to see how she goes. The testing benchmarks the school and the child in literacy and numeracy against the school and national average. She's been busy with her dance practice - both school and private. She's got competitions coming up at the end of June and beginning July.

Aidan's theatre rehersals are picking up, as he is in the final preparations for his big acting debut! My thespian husband is playing 2 parts in an upcoming production of Arsenic and Old Lace at the Cronulla Arts Theatre. I'm really looking forward to seeing him perform.

And I celebrated my birthday on Saturday! Happy Birthday to me...yeah! We went down to the south coast for the weekend, to celebrate with my family. Had a great dinner at a very unique restaurant called Stonegrill - where you cook your own meal on a hot rock that is brought to the table. I had lots of calls, cards and well wishes....thanks everyone. I scored some new charms for my Pandora, a foot massager, some money, and a heap of scratchies that might just win me some moula!

On the scrapping front, I've had some exciting news. 2 of my layouts have been picked up by Scrapbooking Memores for publication. woot, woot! The first one won't appear for a couple of months, so there's a bit of a wait. I'll post here when I'mm allowed to.

And 2 of my designers have made it to the final round of SYTYCD at DigiScrapAddicts. Woo Hoo. It's down to the last 8, and either of them could easily be the winner. I have my fingers crossed for both of them. Good luck Amy and Lyndsay!

I'll leave you with some recent layouts. Each is clickable, if you want to see the credits.

it's in full swing ...

National Scrapbooking Day is in full swing now. This is the first year I've participated, and I've been having great fun making brag book pages for everyone to pick up as freebies.

See my post below for the Bouquet of Pixels blog hop, where you can pick up enough pages to put together a small album.

I've also created some pages for Digital Scrap Cafe. You need to go to their gallery and search for the brag book pages to get the download link. Have a look at some of the gorgeous layouts while you are there.

Here are some more Brag Book pages I've created:

For those of you who don't know how to use them, when you download the file, there is a transparent section where the photo is. You just need to pull your photo into the layout, resize as neccesary, add some journaling and print it out. Simple as that. The files are jpg, so can be used in any photo editing program. And the brag books are 6x4, so can be slipped into any photo album. Couldn't be easier. And with mother's day coming up...what a quick and easy present.

I hope you enjoy them!

Till next time,
Di xx
